End-of-the-Year

I have truly enjoyed being with your children this year. Thank you for your support!

A few reminders:
Summer Reading books will be coming home soon. Please make sure your child reads this book sometime this summer. There isn't a project assigned....just read it, and enjoy it! In order to improve reading skills, reading needs to occur daily. Find a quiet time each day for your child to read.

Check out the Calendar links in the right-hand column for our end-of-the-year activities!

PASS Testing

It is time for testing! We have been reviewing reading strategies and Social Studies content through practice tests. Please help your child by discussing the importance of putting forth his or her best effort on all of the tests. Also make sure that he or she has a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast before each day's testing.

Poetry

We have learned a ton about figurative language. Our study has included similes, metaphors, idioms, hyperboles, onomatopoeia, alliteration, and personification. Some students have been surprised with simple silly sentences to smile about. The test over these will be in two weeks. It should be as easy as pie to pass!

Wax Museum

We have been working on our biography projects in class, and all of the written reports are complete. Students are working on their posters and their speeches this week in school. Our Wax Museum is scheduled for March 17th, and our class will be in the library from 8:30-10:00 AM. Please plan on coming to see our presentations. Also, check your child's schedule so that you know the times he/she will be performing and not out listening to other speeches. Costumes should be brought or worn that day. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me or call me. We are getting excited!

Thank you for supporting our fund raiser. Doughnuts need to be picked up between 7:20 and 7:45 on Thursday, February 12th behind the school.

A few notes...

I am very proud of our recent MAP testing results. Almost all of our students improved their scores. Many even met their spring goals! Congratulations!

Please continue to read nightly, and study for upcoming tests.....we are improving!

Please note the Social Studies column to the right of this Blog. I update all SS information there. There is also a calendar section that you may want to check out for upcoming school and test dates.
